Class Overview:
In this 3 day hands-on class, students will explore storytelling and design through the creation of stickers—both digitally and through mixed media techniques. Using Procreate, students will learn the basics about layers to turn their artwork into real-world products. This class is an introduction to digital tools and self-expression, helping students gain confidence in both their creative skills and their ability to bring ideas to life.
What Students Will Learn:
Layering & Drawing in Procreate and on paper
Storytelling through Design (icons, symbols, and characters that represent ideas)
Digital Editing & File Preparation for sticker production
Understanding Print & Production (vinyl, holographic, die-cut stickers, and their differences)
Prototyping & Presentation (mock-ups and preparing designs for different products)
Daily Schedule
Day 1: The Art of Stickers – Storytelling Through Symbols & Layers
Introduction to sticker culture (collectibles, branding, and personal expression)
Exploring how symbols, characters, and bold designs tell a story
Brainstorming & sketching ideas traditionally before going digital
Hands-on: Understanding layers in Procreate (backgrounds, shading, and details)
Introduction to color theory and contrast for bold, eye-catching designs
Day 2: Mastering Digital Layers & Techniques in Procreate & Illustrator
Hands-on Procreate workshop covering brushes, layers, masking, and blending techniques
Creating multi-layered sticker sheets with variations and depth
Day 3: Sticker Production & Personalizing Your Collection
Hands-on: Selecting and printing a set of stickers using holographic, gloss, matte, and glitter vinyls
Supplies & Tools Used
✔ Digital Tools:
iPads (Bring your own OR Rental available for a small fee, which will include Procreate and Apple Pencil)
Procreate installed (12.99 One time cost/ Link to software
Apple Pencil (Not required & Pens can be borrowed for class use, click here to see if your iPad is compatible)
Google Drive / Dropbox (for file storage & sharing, optional)
